From January 24 to February 10, 2018, more than 470 teachers and students from Beijing No. 35 High School, Peking Academy High School, Beijing Jingyuan School, and Niulanshan Experimental Primary School, etc.organized by the CAS Beijing Science and Technology Association conducted science popularization investigation in Stone Forest in batches,opening the prelude of “Science Exploration of Technology Talents in Yunnan” for the youth in 2018 winter vacation.

“Science Exploration of Technology Talents in Yunnan” visited Stone Forest 

Stone Forest formed 270 million years ago is the world's natural heritage, a world geopark, a national geological park, a national civilized scenic tourist area, and a China's top ten scenic spots with the best resources reserve; it is also an ideal place to develop and promote science and technology education for youth, a reliable supporter for“Collaborative Science and Education for Education Program”  that is favored by the organizing committee as well as teachers and students.

Visiting Shilin Karst Geological Research Museum

Based on the activity in 2017, Shilin Geopark gave great support to the youth “Science Exploration of Technology Talents in Yunnan” during the winter vacation in 2018. In addition to reduction in admission fee, it also actively recommended Shilin Karst Geological Research Museum to the organizing committee for free visit and introduction, and selected national, provincial, and municipal excellent tour guides to provide teachers and students with guidance and on-site explanation. President Feng with Peking Academy High School said: I visited Stone Forest today, which is beyond my imagination. It is so beautiful. If not because of the cold weather and a flight to catch, I will surely ask the organizing committee to arrange a two-day activity here. 

Learning about geology of Stone Forest

It is reported that from 2009 to 2017, a series of CAS science exploration activities of “Technology Talents” have been widely praised by participating schools, teachers, students and society as a typical case for young people's scientific practice. Through popularization of high-end science and technology resources, Science Exploration of Technology Talents in Yunnan entered natural science and karst maze in Yunnan, and enabled young people to experience the cutting-edge natural science research achievements to stimulate their interest in scientific exploration. This has great practical significance and long-term strategic significance for the full implementation of China's strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resource development. Through interactive learning and exchanges between science and technology education departments, schools and Shilin Geopark, this activity takes the experience of young scientific and technological personnel training for reference,  and effectively improves the theoretical level and practical ability of science and technology education to build a good platform for future "association + scenic area & school cooperation".
