There are two kinds of carbonate rocks from which the Stone Forest developed. One is limestone (rich in Calcium) and the other is dolomitic limestone (rich not only in Calcium but also in Magnesium). The Major Stone Forest is made up of limestone and the Naigu Stone Forest is made up of dolomitic limestone. Stone forests originated from different rocks are different in shape and color.
