Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival for Chinese. During this Spring Festival period, Shilin county, well known as hospitable Yi Hometown, is still full of harmonious and joyful atmosphere. Ashima and Aheige, dressed in colorful festive costumes, performed Yi people’s traditional three-stringed guitar dances, traditional lion dances and classic Chinese dragon dances at visitor center and geopark squares to welcome visitors home and abroad. Visitors could feel very strong festival atmosphere of Chinese Lunar New Year and enjoy the exceptional natural beauty.

During the Spring Festival period, activities of folk dances and song performances welcoming in the New Year and visitors were held in Shilin geopark from Feb 8-13. During the national holiday, Shilin geopark received 170,000 Chinese and overseas visitors, indicating a very good beginning at the Monkey Year of 2016.
