The stone forest is composed of stone pillars of different heights， those higher ones are called “stone forest” and shorter ones “stone teeth”. The evolution of the stone forest starts from underground. The carbonate rock was first eroded by groundwater and embryonic stone teeth took shape underground. When exposed above ground through tectonic uplift, they became stone teeth, when stone teeth “grow” higher, they became stone forest.
