There are always some near-horizontal lines on the rock, these lines are called “bedding”. As growth ring is to the tree so is the bedding to the limestone, bedding is the intrinsic feature of the rock. Bedding plane is usually parallel to the surface of water in which the rock deposited. When the rock suffered weathering and erosion, fissures are more likely to form along the bedding plane. One of the critical conditions for the development of the stone forest is the bedding plane should always keep its original near horizontal occurrence, otherwise, the stone pillars will slide and collapse along bedding plane.
