Standard VII: South China Karst is the most spectacular example representing karst landscape in humid tropical to subtropical areas of the world. Among them, the Stone Forest in Shilin County is considered to be the best natural phenomenon and the best of karst sample of the world. This area has Naigu Stone Forest which grows from the dolomitic limestone and Suoyi Mountain Stone Forest which appears in the mountain lakes. Compares with other sword-shape karst areas, Stone Forest has more plentiful patterns of sword-shape karst, more abundant configuration and more rich diversity of color, and changes all the time with the weather and light condition difference. The cone-shaped karst and tower-shaped karst in Libo is considered the best reference of similar karst morphology in the world, with special and beautiful landscape formed here. Wulong karst area contains the huge collapse depressions which is called doline and natural stone bridges with unusual height, with big deep unroofed caves between natural stone bridges. These spectacular karst features boost a world level quality.
Standard VIII: The karst features and landscapes you can find in Stone Forest and Libo karst area has been considered as the global karst standard. In Shilin County, the Stone Forest karst has developed for 270 million years, from the Permian to today's four main geological periods, showing the characteristics of karst evolution at different epochs. In Libo County, the exposed carbonate formed in different geological epochs, after million years of dissolution, remarkable Cone Karst and Tower Karst formed here. Libo karst contains many high peaks and deep funnels, also sunken rivers and long river caves. WuLong karst represents a significant uplifted inland plateau karst, the huge funnels and natural bridges there are good examples of doline landscape of southern China. WuLong landscape maintains the historical evidence of the world's largest river system along the Yangtze River and its tributaries.
